Impressions | A Study in Fleeting Light
Impressions began as a quiet collection—fifteen small acrylic landscapes painted on handmade paper, each one an exploration of mood, atmosphere, and passing light. Inspired by the Impressionists, particularly Claude Monet, and the romantic, luminous landscapes of J. M. W. Turner, these works were never meant to feel fixed. They were painted intuitively—more like memories than places.
Rendered in deep blues and softened greens, the paintings reflect my own response to the Texas Hill Country—its layered stillness, its quiet drama, the way light slips in and out almost unnoticed. Rather than documenting a specific place, each piece holds an impression: a moment felt and then gone.
Created on handmade paper and intimate in scale at 5×7 inches, these works invited closeness—something to lean into, rather than take in all at once. The original paintings have since sold, but their spirit continues through fine art prints, allowing the collection to live on beyond its initial release.
The prints preserve the quiet texture, moody palette, and contemplative feeling of the originals, offering a way to bring one of these fleeting moments into your own space. In this way, Impressions remains what it was always meant to be—a gentle reminder of stillness, light, and the beauty found in the nature around us.
